ABOUT THE COURSE
This non-degree-seeking program teaches theoretical and practical skills necessary to perform a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and precautions including vacuum collection devices, syringes, capillary skin punctures, butterfly needles and blood culture specimen collection on adults, children and infants. Through class lectures and laboratory hands-on experiences the students will receive training in infection, prevention, proper patient identification, accurate labeling of specimens, quality assurance, specimen handling, processing and accessioning.
Upon successful completion the students will qualify to sit for the National Health career Association (NHA) Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam. The Certification Exam is included in the cost and scope of the training course.

Phlebotomy Certification Exam in Florida
By Florida laws a phlebotomist technician must be state certified. This certification is for a two-year period and can be renewed with proof of the continuing education required hours. Florida is one of the four states with strict regulations for issuance of this certificate. The Florida Phlebotomy Regulations requirements for certification are:
- High School graduate transcripts or GED
- Proof of 40 hours of practical training and lecture
